Wild Red – Yunnan High Mountain Wild Black Tea 雲南野生古樹滇紅

Harvested from the ancient wild tea trees of Wuliang Mountain at over 2,000m altitude, Wild Red is a rare and exquisite black tea, nurtured by the pristine biodiversity of its untouched forest environment. Unlike cultivated tea trees, these wild trees awaken early, yielding fresh leaves in early March, long before farmed varieties begin to sprout.

The tea’s unique forest aroma is a result of its remote, high-altitude origins, where dense vegetation and rich ecological diversity impart a distinctive floral and fruity fragrance. Once hand-harvested, the leaves undergo careful withering until a deep floral scent emerges, followed by an intensive rolling process, which breaks down 90% of the cell walls to enhance oxidation. After 5–6 hours of fermentation, the tea develops a captivating fruity aroma before undergoing a meticulous drying process, including initial roasting, deep finishing, and gentle charcoal baking to refine its rich character.

With an exceptionally smooth, sweet, and lingering aftertaste, Wild Red offers a delicate yet complex profile—a rare treasure among black teas. Its refined, long-lasting fragrance and naturally sweet, mellow taste make it a truly distinguished selection.

Brewing Recommendations:

Preheat your teapot and cup before brewing. Use 3–5g of dry tea leaves, steeped in 100°C boiling water for approximately 12 seconds for the perfect infusion.

Perfect to brew with Yiyi’s Bodhidharma Gaiwan for an elevated tea experience.

Storage:

Keep sealed, away from light and strong odours to preserve its delicate aroma and freshness.
