Zhendong
Zhendong is an independent ceramic artist whose works primarily focus on everyday functional ware—simple, high-quality pieces with practical value. He creates with intuition, seeking to capture the poetic essence of daily life through the beauty of ceramics. His inspiration comes from nature—flowers and grasses, clouds and rain—expressing their charm and revealing the depth within.
The raw materials for his creations are sourced from the deep mountains of Sichuan. Through continuous experimentation with local materials, he has developed a distinctive artistic style. Each piece is meticulously crafted by hand, using techniques such as wheel-throwing and hand-building, without being confined to rigid forms. Most of his works are wood-fired, embracing the unpredictability and natural aesthetics of the firing process.
Zhendong’s works are characterised by a rustic elegance, spontaneity, and a profound connection to life’s simple joys. His ceramics reflect a deep appreciation for the character of objects and their role in everyday living. His work has been featured in multiple media outlets, including China Handmade(中華手工), Most Ceramics(最陶瓷), and Fang Suo(方所).
